Meyer Material Zoning Meeting

On Thursday, November 10, the Village of Cary Zoning Committee will hear the new petition from Meyer Material asking for an extension of their mining privileges within the borders of the Village. The meeting will begin at 7 pm in one of the large rooms at the Holiday Inn, Crystal Lake.  Hopefully, you can make the meeting.  The more people the harder it will be for Meyer to get the board to roll over this time.

Hope you can make it.

If you can't make the meeting, but would like to know what's going on, I'll be "live-blogging" the meeting.  I'll be posting comments in real-time, which you can view below.

Thank you for organizing the opposition. Our property values will suffer more than the rest of the town if the extension is granted. If you care about the value of your home, YOU MUST get involved. Sure the economy is bad and there is no home building, so their gravel is not being used. But that is not a valid excuse. They can excavate it and move the gravel to another location for storage. It will cost them more money though, and they want to keep their money, and make us suffer. A deal is a deal. There is an end in sight. If they are granted an extension, it will just be a joke. No one will touch our houses when we try and sell for fear that the pit will never close. Now we can say that there will be a lake there in a few more years. Also, they had a good legal case when the orginal petition was granted. They threatened to de-annex and it could have been held up in court for years and the village had a real chance of losing. That is no longer the case. They have no legal recourse. The agreement is iron-clad and there is NO REASON to extend it. Contact the Mayor and Board Members and tell them to vote NO. Some of them have ties to Meyer staff. Be vocal. Be heard. Don't let them sell us out.
